Only January

A silver sliver of moon suspended,
The blue green color of night upended.
How can we know the beauty of the moon,
And guess its splendor at this time too soon?
Can we divine the future from this dawn,
When veils of twilight hardly have been drawn?
As lunar black and white melts into blue
The dawn reveals the dreams we hope come true,
Realized day by day by day by day.
Like stars may all our worries fade away
Forgotten one by one by one by one
In the morning brightening of the sun.
And yet if whispered wishes come to pass
Then perhaps this time is the one that lasts.
